#29 - A Fish Called Wanda (1988)
This year we’ve been watching a ton of 80s films that we were too young to experience when they first came out.
The look and feel of the film really screams 80s (Soundtrack, colors. I have to be fair - but I am REALLY annoyed by the 80s right now. ). It’s definitely hilarious and worth a watch if you haven’t seen it. All the actors are really at the top of their game… I can’t believe Kevin Kline won an Oscar! But when I was watching the movie I was saying, “I can’t believe Kevin Kline is this funny!”
The title gives nothing away to the premise… the characters pull off a jewel heist… one person is caught and… hilarity ensues? Yes.

#22 - The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988)
This movie was way funnier than I expected. Let me remind you again that I was born in the 80s, so there was no way I could have seen this film back in the day (I’m sure like my previous Police Academy review, Die Hard review, and all that, older people are like, “YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THAT???”). Well - while I am in the process on catching up on 80s movies, I should say that my overall impression of 80s movies is that they are HORRIBLE. How did it happen that this one is so good?
I can see that one of my favorite 90s films stole a lot from The Naked Gun - Austin Powers. It has an over-the-top opening montage that doesn’t really have to do with the plot. The plot is pretty thin, but the film really relies on all the jokes and puns. And Leslie Nielsen! Wow, he was good. And a WEIRD AL YANKOVIC cameo!!! I just wasn’t expecting this film to be so funny, since I think there isn’t much good cinema from that time period (late 80s, early 90s), especially from the mainstream.
